R.O.C., Winston Campaign, Chaos, Disorder and Panic and Hooker Pop live at The Cobalt for Skate 'n Grind, September 27, 2009.

Normally there would be more art on the walls here, but most of it was taken down and I assume returned to its respective owners.<br /> <br /> Lucky for you at home, you can't smell the awful smell wafting from either of the two washrooms.

  • The Cobalt, September 27, 2009.<br /> <br /> The remnants of the famous Cobalt stage, minus its sound system.<br /> <br /> It just looks so wrong.<br /> <br /> For the uninformed, the black flooring is actually rubber mats, kind of like what you see at hockey rinks. Very durable and very handy for when you fall down while moshing.

The four speakers on the stage are a temporary PA system for vocals only.<br /> <br /> Speaking of speakers, one great feature of the Cobalt stage was that the stage monitors were mounted on the ceiling so they didn't take up space on stage and didn't get in the way of energetic moshing like at other venues.

It also doubled as a changing room for the many burlesque shows that were put on there by the Screaming Chickens.<br /> <br /> The show posters used to be all nicely fixed to the wall. One of the fun things to do between sets was to go read the posters and chuckle at the stranger band names.<br /> <br /> Also missing is a large poster of Joey Shithead Keithley which presided over The Cobalt much like a painting of the queen anywhere else.

The display cases on the left and right above the bar used to be full of all sorts of knickknacks. The karaoke song lists used to be on the wall to the right of the bar.

  • The Cobalt, September 27, 2009.<br /> <br /> The view from the back of the bar. Even from here the sight lines to the stage aren't bad which was why along with the great sound system and cheap beer, The Cobalt was one of the best pure show venues in town regardless of the event.
