Anami Vice, December 6, 2008
Anami Vice CD release party, live at The Bourbon, December 6, 2008.
Equipment:
Canon 40D
Sigma 30mm f/1.4
Tamron 28-75 f/2.8
Vivitar 285HV flash
Photo notes:
Well, this was a bit of a surprise for me. I had gone to The Bourbon expecting to see The Dreadnoughts and their furious brand of pirate punk and instead got there to find that it was hip hop night. Oh well. First time for everything.
The night started out with a DJ spinning old school tracks which was a kick in the pants since I hadn't heard a lot of that stuff since high school. It was rather dark where the DJ was set up so I had to haul out the flash to get anything salvageable.
Unfortunately, the lighting wasn't that great for Anami Vice's set with largely static purple and blue lights. The band played well to the crowd and the crowd was eating it up, joining in on choruses and generally having fun. I couldn't get any centre stage photos from up front since the crowd was thick there so I had to use the narrow end of the Tamron from the back of the room for the front-facing photos.
